In ReTensioning™ Professionals who work with human movement find an excellent way to integrate all the other techniques and interventions they use. Massage, mobilization, stretches, exercises and a myriad of other techniques are extremely useful for effecting changes in the structure and control ability of the body. However, the key to lasting improvement is for the client to use these changes and not resume the movement patterns that were a part of the problem they presented with. ReTensioning™ is that key.

With ReTensioning™ a person is guided to realign the balance of tensions in their body so that they rest in neutral – the lowest possible amount of activity physically and neurologically at that time. By doing this the person is able to begin each movement without carrying tension and imbalances from previous activity into the new movement. The result is that every movement starts from a clean slate, physically and mentally. In other words, people learn how to reset their tensional balances so that patterns from previous experiences can be prevented from interfering with how to best perform the activity now.

Being able to reset between movements has vast implications. Just one aspect is that this allows for editing out patterns and habits that will negatively affect the next time an activity is performed again. Consequently, ReTensioning™ can improve relearning movement after injury, optimize current skills for activities as diverse as playing the piano to skiing, and significantly enhance the ability to learn new movements and activities.
